Marc Canellas, Forensics Division, Maryland Office of the Public Defender

As public defender in the Maryland Office of the Public Defender’s Forensics Division, Marc has published widely in law reviews and scientific journals including the flagship publications AI Magazine and IEEE Computer. He also trains attorneys around the country on a broad range of legal issues including forensic evidence, AI, autonomous weapons, and cybersecurity.

 

Andrew Northrup, Forensics Division, Maryland Office of the Public Defender

A senior attorney in the Forensics Division of the Maryland Public Defender's Office. He has been with the office since 2010. Before that, he was on the Minnesota State Public Defender's Trial Team and was a founding member of the Cook County Public Defender's Forensic Science Division.

Brian is a trial lawyer known for his intense preparation and effectiveness in the courtroom. Prior to joining WVFK&N, Brian was a Partner at one of Maryland’s most successful medical malpractice defense firms before realizing that his true passion was helping the victims of medical negligence. During his years of defending health care providers, Brian gained invaluable experience with complicated medical issues and the tactics and strategies employed by the insurance industry.

Bradley S. Shepherd, Posner & Cord, LLC

While attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, Bradley twice competed in the National Trial Competition. After being sworn in as a Maryland attorney, Bradley worked as an associate attorney at a general practice law firm in Glen Burnie, and then a medical malpractice defense firm in Towson. By focusing his efforts, Bradley has been able to become a subject matter expert on criminal defense. His expertise led him to be elected by his peers to the role of chairman of the criminal law section for the Howard County Bar Association. He is routinely asked to give presentations and instruction to other attorneys on specific criminal defense topics.
